Dr. Plinio Nastari is president of Datagro Consulting, one of the world’s leading consulting companies specialized in sugar and ethanol, with six world offices and services rendered to clients in 41 countries.
e served as president of the Board of the Brazilian Association of Automotive Engineers (AEA), and has served and advised the Brazilian government in various capacities in issues involving energy planning, deregulation, trade negotiations and trade disputes, since 1985.
He was one of the lead authors of the International Panel on Climate Change Second Assessment Report, and holds M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in economics and agricultural economics, acting as professor of economics at the prestigious Getulio Vargas Foundation for 18 years.
Dr. Nastari is a member of the Board of Arbitrators at the Getulio Vargas Foundation, and has served as arbitrator and expert testimony in numerous proceedings. He is also a member of ICE Futures World Sugar Committee.
Under his leadership, Datagro has assisted an increasing number of producers, traders, fuel and power distributors, input suppliers, banks, and institutional investors in better understanding the sugar and biofuels industry.
Dr. Nastari is regular columnist in various technical publications, and co-organizor of conferences in Sao Paulo, New York, London, Ribeirao Preto and Araçatuba. In partnership with the International Sugar Organization he has been organizing for six years the already traditional ISO DATAGRO New York Sugar and Ethanol Conference, which happens parallel and as one of the supporting events of the New York Sugar Dinner. He is a regular speaker and has acted as chairman of the most important conferences in sugar and ethanol, and was one of the members/authors of the Sustained Biofuels Consensus.
