A plenary meeting named “Legal controversies among travel agencies and Tourism vs. Consumers” will open the program of the 42nd Brazilian Travel Agencies Congress. The meeting will count on the participation of magistrate Claudio Dell’Orto, ABAV Nacional’s legal adviser Marcelo Oliveira, and ABAV Nacional’s Ethics Board member Rose Mary Farraco Larrat, in addition to a representative of the National Consumer Defense System (Senacom). To be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on September 24, this will be the first of the three plenary meetings scheduled to be held at the Knowledge Village.

The goal of this plenary is to start a broader debate on the concept of joint liability and its fair application in the cases involving services provided through mediation by travel agencies.

Another important aspect to be addressed at the plenary is the increasingly more urgent need for consumer defense bodies to adopt a partnership approach regarding travel agencies and vice-versa. By acting like allies, travel agencies and consumer defense bodies will contribute to fully meeting the duty of serving well the traveler.

The 42nd Brazilian Travel Agencies Congress will be held from September 24 to 26 and will be fully dedicated to the tourism trade, allowing for the exchange of experiences and knowledge, in addition to promoting the debate on themes related to the daily activities of travel agents.
