ABAV Nacional’s Profile – promoting entity

Promoter of the 42nd ABAV – International Tourism Expo, considered the largest and most important international business fair of the industry in the Americas and the whole South Hemisphere, the Brazilian Association of Travel Agencies (ABAV Nacional) has been writing its history of success for 60 years.

Recognized as the major tourism entity in Brazil and with strong political presence, ABAV Nacional is democratically organized and lawfully represented in all Brazilian states and the Distrito Federal, speaking up for the interests of more than 3,500 associated travel agencies, which together concentrate nearly 80% of the industry’s businesses in the country, including national and international travel.

Presided by Antonio Azevedo, who has just started his second term of office (2014-2015) after receiving high praise, ABAV represents Latin America in the World Travel Agents Association Alliance (WTAAA), is co-founder of the Latin America Tourism Forum (Folatur), and has a strategic partnership with ITB Berlin, the world’s largest tourism expo.

42nd ABAV – International Tourism Expo has consolidated its outstanding position in the global scenario. All market niches and segments attest to the invaluable benefits created by the event to both exhibitors and visitors, Brazilian (from all five regions of the country) and foreign (from 62 countries, in addition to the largest and best contingent of hosted buyers that participated in the last edition of the event).

Effective initiatives of the ABAV Qualification and Certification Institute (ICCABAV) also strengthen the entity’s image. The Institute promotes classes, lectures, studies and cooperation agreements in Brazil and overseas. It has also contributed to the program of the Brazilian Travel Agencies Congress, held during the international Tourism Expo and focusing on qualification and professional updating. That is, it promotes the development of tourism intermediation and operation programs, such as Proagência and Benchmarking.

A source for industry information, ABAV Nacional gathers and disseminates information on social networks, on its own communication channels, and on its website, which has more than 2 million unique users per month.
